Saadet Apartment was built in the early 1920s by the Hungarian-born Istvan Resten. In 1948 the apartment was sold to Saadet Hubay and named as Saadet Apartment. In 1987, it was renovated by changing ownership and started its new life as an accommodation facility.
The name of the street where the Saadet Apartment is located was called as the Cedidiye Street in the Ottoman period. After the publication of the Republic of Turkey, it became Ölçek Street. Finally in 2010 the name of the street was transformed into Papa Roncalli Street. This name comes from Monsignor Roncalli, who was lived on this street during the Second World War as the Vatican's Istanbul representative. Monsignor Roncalli later became the Pope as Jean XXIII and was a pioneer of reforms in the church.
The Saadet Apartment, like a miniature of a street that has been located from the beginning, has hosted people from every nation and everywhere and witnessed the neighborliness of Armenians, Greeks and Muslims. Today, it aims to welcome its guests with the heritage of this multiculturalism.
