The Princes’ Islands are the nine islands in the Sea of Marmara. They evolved from a place of exile during the Byzantine era, to a popular destination for tourists and Istanbulites alike to escape the hectic city life for a day.
Buyukada, the biggest and most popular, Burgazada, Heybeliada, and Kinaliada are the most famous ones. The islands are popular tourist destinations for daily excursions, especially in the summertime. There are many monasteries and historic buildings on the islands, besides 19th-century Victorian style old wooden mansions.
The most known and the biggest island is Buyukada. There are many different activities you can try in this island. You can go to beaches by the special boat services available for transportation to the beaches which are found near the main piers. Yoruk Ali Beach, Princess Beach, Kumsal Beach and Nakibey Beach are open to the public for swimmers. Also renting bikes and touring the island might be another choice for you to try in Buyukada.
